fall touring and foliage season
Summer has come and nearly gone, and we hope you had a great one! Whether it was filled with festivals and/or relaxing time by some water, or perhaps just spent lazily eating ice cream in front of a giant fan, as long as it was enjoyable. Remember: “The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.” So said Bertrand Russell! We have been fortunate enough to play some fantastic festivals this summer (Roots on The River, Blue Skies, and Summerfolk were all wonderful!) and many other shows, mainly on weekends. But we’re supremely excited to be heading out on tour again this fall,… read more.
More summer festivals and other fun stuff
Hey there! We hope you’ve been having a wonderful summer so far — it’s been pretty wonderful for us! We took some time to slow down and breathe a little bit in July after a busy touring schedule this spring, and it allowed us to have things like family time and sleep. You know, the luxuries. But we’re heading back into busy times again with a handful of summer festivals and shows! Last weekend (Jul 30-Aug 2) we had a crazy double-header of a festival weekend, where we played the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale, NY and Blue Skies Music Festival in… read more.
festival season approaches!
We are pretty excited to be playing at our first American festival this year — Roots on the River in Bellows Falls, VT with a line-up that features Sam Baker, No Fuss And Feathers Roadshow, Mary Gauthier, Pesky J. Nixon, and many other very talented artists! This just signals the beginning of the festival season, which is always an exciting time and not just because it is summer! Ontario has some pretty rad festivals that you should consider checking out, if you’ve never been before. Mariposa is the “Grande Dame” of Ontario folk festivals, and always delivers a great line-up…. read more.
‘made us strangers’ available now!
Our latest album, “made us strangers”, is officially released today and we are officially stoked! The album is available on iTunes, at our store, or you can pick one up in person at an upcoming show! It’s been a long time coming and we could not have done it without the wisdom, support, and talent of a great many folks. From our pre-production and demo listening party to our producer and recording crew, our design and publicity team through to our pre-order campaign, there have been a lot of people involved in this release and we are extremely thankful for their expertise and assistance. It’s also… read more.
spring update
We’re hitting the road again! This will be our first time going on tour with our son Simon (who is 4) and my mom (who is old enough to watch Simon). Please take a look at the tour dates below and, if we’re traveling near you come on out to a show! Or, if we’re nowhere near you, please let a friend know we will be in their town. I’ve rented special beard extensions for this tour to give me that “ZZ Top” look. If you happen to be especially awesome, you can pre-order our album from the good folks at Pledge Music. … read more.
pre-order the new album ‘made us strangers’!
Happy March! Spring is just around the corner and we’re excited to launch the pre-order campaign for our new album “made us strangers” set to be released on April 28, 2015! We spent the bulk of last year writing, recording, and mixing the album. Now it’s finished, and we’re thrilled to announce that Exclaim! is streaming the first single ‘brothers in the garage’. You can listen to it HERE! We’ve been hugely inspired by the support from fans, friends, family, and audiences that have come to shows, shared our music, hosted a house concert, or supported a crazy bunch of… read more.
road to kansas city
The year has just begun and already we’ve gotten to play some pretty wonderful and very different shows. A full band folk-rock show at Lee’s Palace, a Gordon Lightfoot tribute show at Hugh’s Room (where we got to play for the man himself) and a collaboration with the Hart House Chamber Strings where we played three of our tunes accompanied by a 20-piece string orchestra. All three shows were quite amazing in their own way and the next show we have coming up will be no different! On Saturday February 7th we’re playing a beautiful stage in Morrisburg, Ontario as part… read more.
