Holy moses we have some exciting news! We were the recipient of the New/Emerging Artist of the Year award at the 2015 Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA) in Edmonton this past Sunday!! We’ve been getting so many messages of support and congratulations in the last few days, and we very much appreciate all the sweet words. We’ve received such an amazing amount of support over the bands’ six year existence, and we are so grateful to everyone who has come to a show, booked us at their venue, house concert or festival, bought an album, gave us a bed, and spread the word. So many thank you’s to Amie Therrien (our awesome-sauce manager), Carlin Nicholson (Super-Producer of music), our amazingly understanding families and loved ones, Jen and Cristina at Listen Harder and the lovely folks at Dale Speaking Ltd. for helping to get our album heard.

Awards in the arts are a strange thing to wrap your head around when there is so much great art being made by so many talented people (big love to our fellow nominees; The Harpoonist and the Axe MurdererFortunate Ones,, The Crooked Brothers and The River and the Road) but getting recognized on a national scale is a huge deal to us, and it means a ton. You can see all the nominees and winners here: http://folkawards.ca/nominees/. They are all great; please consider buying their albums and seeing them when they come through your town.

Below you’ll find a piece about the CFMAs aired on CBC News the day after the award results were announced. Watch our backstage post-award reaction at 2:14!
