winter shows and planning for spring

It’s hard to believe we’re well into February now. We’ve had a bunch of really lovely shows in the new year including playing at City Hall for the Mayor (see the piece from CityNews below), the fantastic Octave Theatre in Kingston, and an amazing sold out hometown show at the Burdock Music Hall in Toronto!

From the outside it may seem like we’re laying relatively low, but we’ve been busy working on some new tunes and on plans that will see us visiting most of North America… and that’s only a slight exaggeration. We’ll be packing up the van in the last week of March and heading to Calgary where we’ll be playing the Calgary Folk Club! Then we’ll head east to do a two-week Home Routes house concert tour through Saskatchewan and Manitoba, before heading down to the Midwestern and Northeastern United States. Simon (our five year old son) will be coming with us (!!), and we’re both excited and nervous for how that’s going to go. You can see the confirmed dates here, and you’ll notice we have a few dates that still need to be filled in, so if you have recommendations for venues to play (or would consider hosting a house concert!) please contact us!

In a few days we’ll be heading down to Kansas City for the Folk Alliance International conference. It will be four days of reconnecting with friends and colleagues in the music industry, attending workshops and panels, playing so much music, and securing work into 2017. This will be our third time going to the conference, and as crazy and intense as it is it’s such a good time. If you’re heading down too, please get in touch!
