west coast minstrels
We are currently riding the rails, just outside of Jasper, and enjoying one hell of a good time! We’ve been playing on the train as part of VIA Rail’s On-board Entertainment program and it is a highly unique experience, to say the least. For one thing, crossing Canada by rail is fantastic and you really get a feel for the scope and sheer mass of this beautiful country. For another thing, showering on a train is one wild and woolly batch of hijinx!
We’re looking forward to playing a couple of shows in Vancouver, and then getting back on the train and heading home. Hopefully we’ll see some friendly faces at the shows or in the week when we get back, which is close to NXNE, Burlington Sound of Music festival, and our much-anticipated return to the Blacksheep Inn!

ARTIST OF THE WEEK. Sheree Plett. One of the artists we’ll be playing with in Vancouver, Sheree has a deceptively breezy and sweet songwriting style while lyrically tackling deep issues. I haven’t met her yet, just enjoyed her music through the internet, but that’s what the internet is for isn’t it? Discovering new music and joining people together who otherwise would never get the chance. Kind of like the railways of old…
Here’s hoping you are all enjoying new experiences this spring, and finding new music and new friends along the way.
