We’ve finally got new music for you! This album took a while to record, for all the reasons you might expect over the past 5 years. For a while we weren’t even sure what to do with these songs but it felt right to release them and at least share what we’ve been doing with folks, if they’re interested.

And so, this is the first single: “All Of My Friends Are Leaving”! Sure, a sad song, but it *sounds* happy and that’s the key right? This one had its start from a Rock Lottery. What’s a Rock Lottery? That’s a fine question. Take a bunch of musicians names and toss ’em in a hat, mix it around and pull them out at random into several groups. You’ve just formed several new bands! Now you’ve just got to write and rehearse some songs and play a fun show based around these new bands that we all made.

Laura was placed in a band with Rachael Cardiello, Caleb Stull, and Peter Graham. They decided to write 3 new songs to perform for the Rock Lottery show, which was a bold choice! Most of the rest of us went with songs we had already written, or cover songs. But during those first rehearsals, Laura’s band wrote the structure of “All Of My Friends Are Leaving”. When it came to the lyrics, Laura brought them home and together we tossed them around and figured out what they should be. It was a fun process, and when it came time to play the show this song in particular was an instant crowd favourite, in part because it had a naturally-occurring sing-along chorus. Those are rare indeed!
